To the south of Durban’s city centre, on Fridays and Saturdays you’ll find the vibrant and colorful Bangladesh Market in the suburb of Westcliff in Chatsworth. This well known fresh produce and weekend shopping market has become a hustling and bustling weekend meeting place for the diverse communities of the area, especially the predominantly Indian community.
The Bangladesh Market, owned by the eThekwini Municipality, and run by the community, offers a colorful array of wares and fresh produce that mainly stem from the eastern traditions that characterize this community.
On the 30th June 2009 Logie Naidoo, the Deputy Mayor of eThekwini, paid a visit to the Bangladesh Market.
